Christ University was founded in 1969 by St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, an educational visionary and social reformer. In 2004,UGC granted autonomy to the college and it was in 2008, the institution was declared a Deemed to be University by the Ministry of Human Resource Development of the Government of India. The University is involved in deep research and has published more then 300 books in Kannada and English and six peer reviewed journals.
The University offers educational courses in various streams and departments.
